A culture chamber for studying volatile organic compounds in plant-microorganism interactions was awarded as "Best Invention 2023" by Spanish Patent Office

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the first prize in the category of 'Utility Models' for the Best Invention Protected by Industrial Property Rights 2023, to the invention owned by the University of León (ULE) called 'Culture chamber to evaluate the effects of volatile compounds on plant-microorganism interactions'.

The winning model has been developed in collaboration between two research groups at the ULE:   Engineering and Sustainable Agriculture (GUIIAS) and Plant Physiology and Biotechnology (FISIOVEGEN).

The inventors are Samuel Álvarez García (responsible for the application), Antonio  Encina , Pedro A. Casquero Luelmo  and Guzmán Carro Huerga, all of them researchers at the ULE. The culture chamber that is the object of the invention is applicable in the field of in vitro research in  plant physiology, plant biotechnology and agriculture.
